1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, complete your profile, post jobs, or contact us. This includes your name, email address, professional information, location, and any content you upload such as CVs or profile photos. We also automatically collect certain information when you use our platform including IP addresses, browser type, device information, pages visited, and time spent on pages.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve AfriTalent, including to create and manage your account, match job seekers with relevant opportunities, enable employers to find qualified candidates, send transactional emails and notifications, analyze usage to improve our services, and prevent fraud and ensure platform safety.
3. Information sharing
Your public profile information is visible to employers and visitors on AfriTalent. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with service providers who help us operate our platform (such as Supabase for data storage and Resend for email), and when required by law.
4. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@afritalent.com.
5. Your rights
You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information at any time through your account settings. You may also request a copy of your data, opt out of marketing communications, and request that we restrict processing of your information.
6. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. This includes encryption of data in transit and at rest, regular security audits, and access controls.
7. Legal basis for processing
We process your data only where a lawful basis exists: (a) consent job alerts, marketing emails, analytics cookies; (b) performance of a contract creating your account, submitting applications, processing subscriptions; (c) legitimate interests platform security, fraud prevention, and aggregated analytics that do not override your rights. You may withdraw consent at any time in Settings without affecting prior processing.
8. Cookies & tracking
We use strictly necessary cookies (authentication, security), and only with your consent analytics cookies to understand usage. You can change your choice at any time via the cookie banner or your browser settings. See our Cookie Notice for the full list of categories.
9. International data transfers
Your data is stored with providers in the European Economic Area (Supabase) and processed and payment provider Flutterwave. Where data leaves your jurisdiction, we rely on adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or equivalent safeguards.
10. Profiling & automated matching
We use automated matching to recommend jobs and candidates (skills overlap, location, salary, remote-readiness and trust scores). These systems assist human decisions; no solely-automated decision produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. Employers always make the final hiring decision.
11. Children
AfriTalent is not directed to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn we have, we will delete it promptly contact privacy@afritalent.com.
12. Retention, breaches & your complaint rights
We keep profile data while your account is active; after deletion requests we erase or anonymise personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (e.g. payment invoices for 7 years). If a breach risks your rights we will notify you and the regulator as the law requires. You may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or your local data protection authority.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. For material changes we will notify you by email or in-app notice before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. AfriTalent is the data controller; contact: privacy@afritalent.com.
